Wartsilla > 28,500 bhp., Twin Turbo, Diesel Generator

This month we will cover; Diesel Powered Race Car Winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans, do you know what "Sticktion" is, Ultra-Low Sulfur (S-15) Diesel Facts, Crude Oil and Total Petroleum Imports, E- Flush Engine Oil Flush, and the New York Head Mechanics Association annual meeting.

As you read through this newsletter you can finish reading each article by clicking on the link at the bottom of that article.

Our friends at Ford Powerstroke / International Truck and Engine Corporation have recently modified the English language by finding a new use for a rather unusual word.
The term Sticktion is being used to explain what happens when motor oil used to pressurize electro- hydraulic fuel injectors (such as the HUEI) breaks down and carbonizes inside the injector. This temporary adhesion can slow or prevent the movement of components within the injector. This delay can have serious negative effects on the operation of the injector and the engine.

Both the Ford Powerstroke and International versions of the 6.0 litre or VT 365 can suffer from this problem. This problem can also happen to any Electro-hydraulic type injectors.
The primary cause of this problem is thermal breakdown of the engine oil. This problem can be resolved by using an engine flush product designed to break down and remove carbonized oil deposits. It is important to dissolve the deposit as opposed to simply breaking it apart which can cause carbon to lodge in the injector damaging it to the point of requiring replacement.

An Audi R10 diesel (No. 8) won the Le Mans 24 Hours race on June 18th, the first diesel-powered car ever to do so, and with a four-lap lead over the second- place car. A second Audi R10 (No. 7) took third after having to replace a turbocharger earlier in the race, a delay that cost it 10 laps.
The Le Mans 24 is an endurance race; the winner is the car that covers the most distance in 24 hours. Cars are driven by teams. The No. 8 covered 380 laps on a 13.65-km (8.48-mi) circuit in this years race.

The Audi R10 TDI is powered by a completely new all- aluminum, 5.5-liter, twelve-cylinder twin-turbo TDI engine that delivers more than 650 hp and more than 811 ft. lbs. of torque.
The V12 TDI used in the R10 is the first Audi diesel engine with an aluminum crankcase. The cylinder- bank angle is 90 degrees. The V12 TDI has, like Audi production car engines, four valves per cylinder and twin overhead camshafts. The common rail fuel injection system pressure exceeds 23,000 psi.

Within the industry there is a lot of speculation, personal opinion, half-truths, guesses (nearly all of which are wrong), and a lot of just plain bad information regarding this new fuel, how it will affect the new engines, the old engines, and how this is all going to work in the field.
There are refiners, distributors, and fuel jobbers on one side, engine and component manufacturers on another side, truck and equipment makers on another, regulators on another, politicians in the middle, and you the lowly customer is at the bottom of the pile where there is precious little useful information or actual hard facts.

We would like to offer you some useful information and hard facts.
Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel or S-15 is diesel fuel containing less than .0015% or 15 parts per million (ppm) of Sulfur. The EPA has required that all refiners producing fuel and all importers of fuel for on- highway use begin shipping this fuel no later than June 1st, of 2006. Some refiners actually began shipping this product or versions of a near-ULSD product much earlier. Distributors and retailers have until October of this year to purge their storage systems of the Low Sulfur Diesel so that by October only ULSD is used to fuel on-road vehicles.
It is illegal to put fuel containing more than 15 ppm of sulfur into a 2007* or later on-highway diesel powered vehicle

Preliminary monthly data on the origins of crude oil imports in May 2006 has been released and it shows that three countries have each exported more than 1.40 million barrels per day to the United States. Including those countries, a total of five countries exported over 1.00 million barrels per day of crude oil to the United States (see table below). The top five exporting countries accounted for 70 percent of United States crude oil imports in May while the top ten sources accounted for approximately 88 percent of all U.S. crude oil imports. The top sources of US crude oil imports for May were Canada (1.877 million barrels per day), Mexico (1.576 million barrels per day), Saudi Arabia (1.457 million barrels per day), Venezuela...

(1.169 million barrels per day), and Nigeria (1.075 million barrels per day). The rest of the top ten sources, in order, were Iraq (0.666 million barrels per day), Angola (0.356 million barrels per day), Algeria (0.350 million barrels per day), Russia (0.255 million barrels per day), and Ecuador (0.239 million barrels per day). Total crude oil imports averaged 10.234 million barrels per day in May, which is an increase of 0.402 million barrels per day from April 2006.
Canada remained the largest exporter of total petroleum products in May, exporting 2.319 million barrels per day to the United States. The second largest exporter of total petroleum products was...

Enertech Labs E-Flush is the Hi-Tech product to quickly, easily, and safely flush oil deposits from inside the engine, oil coolers, injectors, and turbochargers in both gasoline and diesel engines.
This product has been designed to work best with the RTI Engine Flush Machine.

E-Flush is also highly effective when used by adding to engine oil and briefly running the engine. The oil should then be drained, the filter replaced, and fresh oil added. Use of Enertech Lab's EOA - Engine Oil Additive will provide long trouble free service.

We want to thank all of the members of the New York Head Mechanics Association (NYHMA) for the all the very positive comments and thank you's for our Ultra-Low Sulfur Fuels Seminar that we presented at the summer meeting in Liverpool, NY on July 20th.

Enertech Labs and our distributor, Leonard Bus Sales appreciates this opportunity and we look forward to working together to support NYHMA and its members.

If your group or company would like to have an educational seminar on fuels, oils, coolants, regulations, new engine technologies, please contact Bill Richards at Enertech Labs.

Changes are happening every day. Government regulations, new fuels, new oils, new coolants, new engines, and even completely new vehicles.

Enertech Labs is your source for the information and your partner in developing and implementing solutions.

Contact Enertech or one of our distributors today to get the products you need to have your operation run safely, successfully, and cost effectively.

Next month; New EPA labeling requirements for all diesel fuel additives.

Sincerely,
